8-ball is played with 15 numbered balls and a cue ball. After the break, players are assigned either solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15) based on the first legally pocketed ball. Each player must then pocket all of their group before attempting the 8-ball. To win, the 8-ball must be pocketed cleanly after clearing your group, and it must go in a called pocket. Common fouls include scratching, hitting the wrong group first, or failing to hit any ball. Pocketing the 8-ball early or scratching while sinking it results in a loss.
